Follow these simple steps to add dynamic content personalization to your website in under 5 minutes – no coding skills required.

Quick Start Guide

1. Create your SwapTopic account
2. Add your website domain
3. Install the SwapTopic script
4. Create your first personalization
5. Test and publish

Step 1: Getting Your Embed Code

After signing up, you’ll find your unique embed code in your dashboard under Settings. It looks like this:

Step 2: Adding the Embed Code

Shopify

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes
2. Click Actions > Edit code
3. Open the theme.liquid file in the Layout folder
4. Paste your SwapTopic script just before the closing </head> tag
5. Click Save

WordPress

1. Log in to your WordPress admin
2. Go to Appearance > Theme Editor
3. Select your active theme’s header.php file
4. Add your SwapTopic script just before the closing </head> tag
5. Click Update File

Squarespace

1. Log in to your Squarespace account
2. Go to Settings > Advanced > Code Injection
3. Paste your SwapTopic script in the Header section
4. Click Save

Wix

1. Log in to your Wix account
2. Go to the Wix Editor for your site
3. Click Settings (the gear icon) > Custom Code
4. Click + Add Custom Code
5. Paste your SwapTopic script
6. Set placement to Head
7. Click Apply

Webflow

1. Open your Webflow project
2. Go to Project Settings > Custom Code
3. Paste your SwapTopic script in the Head Code section
4. Click Save Changes and publish your site

Step 3: Creating Your First Personalization

1. In your SwapTopic dashboard, go to Personalizations
2. Click + Add New Page and enter the page path (e.g., / for homepage)
3. Click + Add Rule and select First Time Visitor
4. Enter the HTML element you want to personalize (e.g., h1)
5. Enter your personalized content
6. Click Save

Step 4: Testing Your Personalization

1. Go to Settings tab
2. Enable Preview Mode
3. Click the Preview Site button
4. Use the preview panel to see your personalizations in action

Common Questions

How can I find the right HTML elements to personalize?

Use the SwapTopic Setup Mode:

1. Go to Settings > Site Setup
2. Click any element on your site to copy its selector
3. Paste the selector into your personalization settings

Will SwapTopic slow down my website?

No, SwapTopic is designed to be lightweight and fast. The script is under 15KB and loads asynchronously, so it won’t impact your page load speed.

Is there any code modification required?

None! Simply add the script to your site’s header, and you can manage all personalizations through our dashboard.
